New Executive Director - Maryum Lee

Published on 01/12/2026

On behalf of the Board of Directors of Lutheran Community Services, I am delighted to announce that Maryum Lee has been selected as our next Executive Director, effective February 2, 2026. The Board unanimously approved this appointment at our meeting on January 7.

After a comprehensive process led by our Search Team and guided by an experienced consultant, Maryum emerged as the unanimous choice to lead LCS into its next chapter. Her 14 years of senior nonprofit leadership, including management of budgets exceeding $14 million and teams of up to 35 staff, position her well to advance our mission of serving the 60,000 people who turn to us each year.

What truly distinguishes Maryum is her deep personal commitment to the populations we serve and her proven expertise in the very areas critical to our future: food insecurity, homelessness prevention, and public health systems. Her experience with public health systems initiatives aligns well with our growing partnership with ChristianaCare on Food is Medicine, and her track record of securing federal, state, and foundation funding will strengthen our ability to expand our impact.

As we celebrate this exciting transition, we extend our profound gratitude to Rob Gurnee for his dedicated leadership and service to LCS. His legacy of compassionate, mission-driven leadership has positioned our organization for continued growth, and we look forward to building on that strong foundation with Maryum at the helm.  Rob will be staying on for several weeks to ensure a smooth and successful transition.

We are confident that Maryum's collaborative leadership style, strategic vision, and results-oriented approach will inspire our staff, volunteers, and community partners as we work together to create lasting change for those we serve.
