Our Product Drives

Our clients rely on LCS to provide them with items they can’t easily purchase themselves.  In addition to food, LCS is often in need of toiletry and personal hygiene items. These items are not covered under SNAP benefits, and can be a financial burden for our clients, but are essential for our clients.

Product Drives help us to provide these items at our pantries and ensure that we have a consistent supply to serve our entire community.

Our toiletry, hygiene, and food needs can change based on our inventory. Before you begin your drive, please check the list below for our most needed items, or contact Jenn Williams at 302-654-8886 ext. 111.

6 Steps to a Successful Drive

You can download these steps in an easy to distribute flyer from the link below!

1. Contact LCS to schedule a drop off time

  • LCS Pantries always gladly accepts donations. However, due to pantry operating hours, we ask that you call ahead and ensure a seamless drop off time.
  • We will also provide you with printable LCS materials to aid you in your Drive. These materials include a list of our most needed items, a brochure of LCS services, and directions to a drop off site nearest you

2. Set up Your Product Drive

  • Set a date range for your drive. We recommend you set a starting and ending date for when you're collecting. While you can collect for any length of time, we recommend between 2-3 weeks.
  • Keep in mind that these items takes up space! Find a location to store your donations until you’re ready to drop off your items.

3. Promote your drive

Be creative promoting the drive! We recommend that you include places and times to off, the list of most needed items, and a link to our website to give context to the request. Some popular advertising suggestions include:Distributing flyers to your church, community center, stores, dentist, doctor, hairdresser, etc.
Email your friends & family, and encourage them to send email themselves.

Post your event to social media such as Facebook.  Feel free to TAG US in the event!

4. Collect Your Items

This is the fun part! Collect and package your donations for the duration of the drive. Using sturdy boxes and cloth bags makes moving heavy items easier.

5. Drop off your donation

Moving all those items can be challenging! Grab a few friends to help if you need it. If you REALLY went the extra mile, CONTACT LCS for us to stop by with our Food Farmacy delivery van to pick up your donation.

6. Share your success!

Thank everyone who gave! It's important to let them know that they helped make a difference in ending hunger in Delaware. It will also help to encourage others to run food drives of their own!
