Two energetic interns have joined LCS this month! Please welcome Mitchell Frizzell and Lauren Myers! We hope you have the pleasure of meeting them as they serve in their respective roles with the Delaware Food Farmacy program and the main office at LCS. We’ll introduce you to Mitchell first. Look for another blog about Lauren!

Mitchell began January 4th and works specifically with Jenn Williams and the Delaware Food Farmacy. He is helping to prepare and deliver orders for our clients and offering a fresh perspective for our programs. He also will be reaching out to clients at our pantries to make them aware of our homelessness prevention funding and help determine whether they are eligible. Mitchell is working on a master’s degree in Social Work from Indiana Wesleyan University. It’s a two year online program, and he will finish up in 2023. His internship with us runs for eight months. We are excited to have him here!

A native Delawarean, Mitchell earned a Bachelors of Music degree from Temple University. Then, he worked with the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Brunswick, Maine for two years before returning to his home state. Mitchell still enjoys music and sings with the Christ Church Choir at Christ Church Christiana Hundred. Before coming to LCS, Mitchell was the Marketing Manager for Habitat for Humanity for New Castle County.

Mitchell’s career goal is to become a mental health counselor. He adds, “I would like to work with LGBTQ young adults.” You can tell he has a passion for helping others. Currently, Mitchell volunteers with the crisis line for the Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people. “Really, it’s for youth and young adults ages 12 to 24 going through any crisis,” Mitchell explains.

Even more exciting than starting with LCS, Mitchell is getting married in a couple of weeks! His fiancé Charles is an Episcopal associate priest at Trinity Episcopal Parish. We wish Mitchell and Charles a beautiful ceremony and a blessed life together!
