Lutheran Community Services is thrilled to be constructing a warehouse/fulfillment center next to our facility at 2809 Baynard Blvd. in Wilmington. It will be a hub for aggregating healthy food from a variety of sources, and then custom packaging it and distributing to a number of community outlets.
To complete this project, LCS needs a total of $925,000. We are pleased to report that we have already collected $833,768 in donations, grants, and multi-year commitments from our program partners. But we need your help!
We are currently $91,232 from our capital campaign goal and are asking for your support to fully fund the project. Please consider supporting this vital infrastructure for community food distribution.
The LCS Food Hub will be a 3,400 square foot warehouse and fulfillment center adjacent to our facility at 2809 Baynard Blvd.
This facility will serve as a hub for aggregating healthy food from various sources, custom packaging it, and distributing it to numerous community outlets.
It will enable us to expand our Food is Medicine programs, be more efficient, and strengthen our existing pantries.
It sounds obvious to say, but a balanced diet of healthy foods leads to a healthier life. Despite this, food is rarely brought up as a core part of a medical diagnosis or as part of prescribed treatment. This is especially true when it comes to lower-income families who have limited access to healthy food options. Working together with healthcare providers and other experts, our Food is Medicine and nutrition security programs provide medically tailored groceries that help prevent, manage, and treat diet related chronic diseases among vulnerable populations.
Food is directly tied to health. Therefore, Food is Medicine.
