Our LCS food pantry at Unity Church may be smaller in size, but its heart and soul are as strong as any! The volunteers and pantry coordinator Richard Porto do all they can to make it as welcoming and friendly as possible. Indeed, they firmly believe that their relationship with clients is as important as the food they provide.
Recently, Unity added a Thursday evening food pantry slot to help those who may not be able to come to their morning hours. Thursday evening’s pantry is open from 5 to 7 p.m. The Union Park Civic Association is helping to advertise the food pantry and its hours to residents. Their president Adele will connect with a neighboring civic association as well.
If you would like to volunteer at our Unity pantry, let us know! The biggest need at this time is help registering new clients on Thursday evenings. Using our computer system, you would register new clients and log in returning clients. We also could use a couple of additional morning volunteers and substitutes (especially during summer). Reach out to pantry coordinator Richard Porto at (302) 339-0456 or express interest at volunteer.delaware.gov.
You also can help us spread the news of Unity’s new pantry hours. Thanks! We think it’s a pretty great place.
